TEAM HEADQUARTERS
The aim of this site is to provide a running history of our sim-racing team so we can look back on our achievements and all the fun we've had over the years.
We met playing TOCA Race Driver 3 on the Playstation 2 when we raced with rival teams, Darren with The Core who were a very successful bunch of guys, and Heinz with T3M who were younger but just as competitive. From there we met a mixed bunch of guys who eventually gravitated towards PC gaming and created a sim-racing league called MOB Rules Racing. We raced on GTR and occasionally rFactor and the racing was just like real life, mostly clean but very competitive and great fun. There were more than 20 of us at one point but some people drifted to other gaming genres or real life got in the way and after a couple of years the MOB came to a natural end. However, some of us were not done with sim-racing and we ventured out to find new challenges. Paul Doncheck of the MOB found Race2Play.com and brought it to our attention, Darren joined up straight away and soon persuaded Heinz to give it a try. We raced as MOB Rules Racing and still had a dozen or so drivers, some more active than others. We gained a good record there in our first year and improved our own skills by racing in such high class fields, but it wasn't for everyone and for various reasons people drifted away. So once again the MOB was dying, only Darren and Heinz were left racing regularly with Carl Adams and John Passmore making occasional appearances.
It was at this point that Darren and Heinz discussed the creation of a new team, the idea being to coordinate our efforts as a pair and start winning some team trophies in the Race2Play Championships. APEX Predator Racing was born on 24 December 2007, John joined the team to help out in races Heinz couldn't attend and then Carl joined to compete in the World Rally Series on Richard Burns Rally, and finally Justin Rebelo joined as a Formula 1 driver to take over from Darren when he was having PC problems for a couple of seasons.
We have made many other friends at Race2Play, Tim McArthur and Todd Weiss (the league creators) provide an excellent environment for fair, competitive racing and friendly banter in forums and post race chats etc. They have recently started live broadcasts of Special Events too, complete with commentary.
We have also moved on to different sims and although we concentrate mainly on GTR2, we also race on rFactor, RACE 07/ GTR EVO, and Richard Burns Rally.
Heinz now runs the old MOB Rules Racing team as a secondary team to APR, we have renamed it to MOB APR and the intention is that new team members can start there and move into APR once they have found their feet.
We also race with CoreMOB Sim Racing, who are the remaining racing members of The Core from PS2 and MOB Rules Racing from our early PC racing days pre 2005. CoreMOB site.
The website has developed aswell and now includes video highlights of some of our seasons at Race2Play and CoreMOB and a full database of set-ups for all kinds of sims, cars and tracks.
